Live sports schedules and a US TV guide
The Watchmode API returns sports and award-show schedules, the services and TV channel apps that carry each event, and US TV channel listings on Business and Enterprise. It returns schedules and links. It does not return live scores, play-by-play, or video playback.
Live countries are the US, the UK (region code GB), Canada, and Australia. A streaming or TV subscription may still be required to watch. Link availability varies by event, provider, country, and platform.
What the API returns
- GET /v1/live-events/ finds sports games and award ceremonies by date, league, team, or name. One credit per page, or two with a provider or availability filter. Including viewing options on that call costs 1 credit plus 1 per event (1 for an empty page).
- GET /v1/live-event/{id}/sources/ returns where to watch one event. It costs 2 credits per requested country.
- GET /v1/live-leagues/ and GET /v1/live-teams/ list leagues and teams you can filter on.
- GET /v1/live-channels/ lists US TV channels. GET /v1/live-airings/ returns upcoming listings. Both are marked Business+ in the docs.
- GET /v1/live-schedule/ downloads events and viewing options for one country and up to seven days. Each successful page costs 10 credits, including repeated and empty pages. Pages stay unchanged for that download. Fetch every page before you replace a saved collection.
- GET /v1/live-coverage/ describes what the account can access. It costs 0 credits, including after the monthly allowance is used. The per-minute request limit still applies.
Event and guide links use platform, type, url, affiliate, a nullable requires_subscription flag, and an optional refresh_after time. Refresh a saved link at or after that time. A link is not a promise that playback will start, and a public page is not the same as free playback. Channel links open a channel page or live channel. They do not necessarily select the program.
Who it is for
Sports and TV apps that need a schedule plus a way to open the right service or channel app. Guide apps that need US channel listings. Products that need local-channel and blackout context for a US TV market, which Business and Enterprise expose as market-aware availability.
Which plan unlocks it
- Developer: a sample of up to 25 events, including viewing options. No US TV guide, local-market filter, or schedule download.
- Startup: events from the past 7 days through the next 7 days in the supported countries. No US TV guide, local-market filter, or schedule download.
- Business and Enterprise: all available event dates, schedule downloads, the US TV guide, and local channels by US TV market, including regional sports networks and blackouts as described on the plan comparison.
- Catalog calls and live calls share one monthly credit allowance. That allowance is not the per-minute request limit. Current allowances are on the pricing page.
- Shared RapidAPI identities are not supported for Live. Direct Watchmode API accounts get access from their plan. No separate enrollment step is required.
Questions
Does the live API include every sport and every US channel?
No. It returns the events, channels, and listings in the current dataset for the supported countries. GET /v1/live-coverage/ tells the account what it can access. An empty result means nothing matched that request, not that a league will never be carried.
Can Startup plans call the US TV guide?
No. The channels and airings endpoints are marked Business+ in the API reference. Startup includes the 7-day sports and events window, not the guide or local-market filter.
Do schedule downloads return every future event in one response?
No. GET /v1/live-schedule/ covers one country and up to seven days, in pages. Each successful page costs 10 credits. Read every page of that download before replacing saved events.
